Dr. Michael Zinser, PT, DPT

Over the past 11 years Michael has had the privilege to serve in the presence of many great and experienced Physical Therapists. He has spent 6 years as a Rehab Technician through undergrad studies and Physical Therapist Assistant training at Penn Valley. In addition, he has had the opportunity to work with many PTs and learn from their successes and, occasionally, their failures. He then spent 5 years working for a local area Inpatient Rehab/Acute PT facility as a Physical Therapist Assistant and then expanded his education achieving a Doctorate degree in Physical Therapy from Rockhurst University. Over time, the challenges of the large corporate world and his love for athletic endeavors drove him to seek a different avenue. This lead him to Adjuvant PT where he gets to put the patient first each day and continue to pursue the love for helping people pursue their physical and athletic goals.

From Michael: Much of society seems still rooted in the notion that age alone determines our ability to cope with the physical requirements of everyday life. The line “I am just getting old” gets thrown out a lot without much thought because we believe it is just the way life is. I want to challenge these thought processes and change people’s mindset. Through my 13 years of distance running I have seen 95 year-olds compete in 100 meter sprint competitions. Been humbled by 50 year olds in trail marathons and witnessed 75 year olds complete the Leadville Marathon in a little over 5 hours. That’s 10,000ft above sea level with 6 thousand feet of elevation gain!

I believe a positive, goal driven mindset with an innate stubbornness to disregard
society’s notion of “too old” is what keeps these people attacking their goals. They refuse to abide by the ubiquitous notion that once you leave high school, sports and competition are supposed to be all but forgotten. What I want to accomplish here at Adjuvant PT is motivate people to dream big and to be able to adapt to life’s challenges. I want them to stay strong and mobile enough to play with their grandkids. To be able to walk or run 5 miles at the age of 70. For those at any age and sport to maintain a goal driven mindset and always aim to be the best in their class, age group, heat or team. I want to nurture this competitive mindset as no man or woman should live in fear of being a burden to those they love because of physical disability or ever being able to compete in the sports or hobbies they have loved their entire life.
